Festivals and Fests

Festivals

It’s Duisburg’s richly varied cultural provision which makes the city such a winner. The Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum and the Küppersmühle Museum, the Duisburg Philharmonic, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the HundertMeister (Hundred Masters) culture centre guarantee a diverse cultural programme all year round, ranging from contemporary art to hip hop, opera and cabaret. And as if all that were not enough, Duisburg Marketing GmbH in cooperation with Stadt Duisburg create highlights of their own with a number of festivals. In particular, the genre breaking ‘Duisburger Akzente’ and the music festival ‘Traumzeit’ (Dream Time), and also the ‘Duisburger Tanztage’ (Dance Days) and the ‘KinderKulturFestival’ (Children’s Culture Festival) have made a name for themselves far beyond the local area.
In addition to these annual festivals, Duisburg Marketing GmbH plan and organise large-scale cultural events for particular occasions, such as the 2005 World Games, the 2007 Canoe World Championships, the City Jubilee in 2008 and Capital of Culture 2010.
