Herring Fest

The Hollandse Nieuwe (First Dutch) is celebrated

The Duisburg Herring Fest, celebrated every year for three days in June, has now become one of the biggest and best established events of its kind in Germany. Year after year it attracts to the Königstrasse not only some 80,000 visitors from Duisburg, but also lots of herring lovers from the surrounding towns and cities.  Taking place at the same time as the Duisburg Herring Fest, the arrival of the first Dutch herring is also appropriately celebrated in the Netherlands with the Vlaggetjesdag (Flag Day) in Scheveningen.
The new Dutch herring is always available at the Duisburg Herring Market and is always of the very best quality. So, you have the chance to enjoy it, complemented by a beautifully cold pils or a lively Riesling.  And on all three days there is also a varied musical programme to contribute to the event’s overall success.
